Crime

Crime

The crime epidemic that's going on in the United States today is multifaceted. A couple of reasons. One is we saw all last summer where they allowed people to throw rocks and bricks and stones at police officers. And very little was done.

Economy

When we talk about the economy today, everything across the board has increased gas prices, food prices. Rent has gone up inflation as at a 40 year high. We, as a nation ought not have to be going through that. And every time something happens, they blame it on Russia. This has been going on for two years now.

Education

First, I would like to say that I love teachers. Teachers are one of the professions that we need. Good, honest people in those professions. I do think that maybe we ought to do a good thorough background on teachers, just like we do police officers before they get on the job.

Infrastructure

Well, it's a little frustrating when you live on the southside of Atlanta and you have to go to the airport and you get on the interstate and you see burnt cars. That's been on the side of the interstate for weeks at a time. You see mattresses on the interstate. That's been there for a while.

Why Stoney
July 11th, 2022
I've only ever voted Democrat throughout my entire adult life. This year, I'm gonna vote for Stoney Mathis. The man has a solid moral compass. I trust him and he reminds me that there are more things uniting us than dividing us. He's a good man.
Dear Friends and Neighbors

I am running for Georgia State House of Representatives’ newly drawn District 68. Over the past 29 years, I’ve led police officers and entire police departments through some very turbulent times. I have a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Public Administration, and I’m also a graduate of the FBI Leadership Academy as well as the Columbus State University Command College Leadership program. I have over 20 years of executive level leadership experience with a proven track record of success.

My family and I live, work, and worship in this wonderful community, and I want to preserve our way of life. I suspect we have all witnessed the enormous challenges and negative impacts caused by the uncontrolled and unplanned growth in the metro area. I have seen the negative impact this growth has had on traffic, schools, hospitals, and law enforcement agencies. There is an unprecedented crime epidemic currently gripping metro Atlanta that threatens surrounding communities.

I have resolved to take action and address these issues head on. I believe every child in both our community and our state, regardless of background or socio-economic status, deserves the right to the absolute best education available. I believe every citizen has the right to be safe in their own home without the fear or threat of a criminal and/or the government unlawfully forcing their way in. I believe in the Second Amendment and will fight for people’s right to protect themselves. In short, I want to become a voice for those who have been silent for far too long!

My leadership experience, education, and devotion to community have prepared me to be that voice in the state legislature. For this reason, I have decided to retire from law enforcement after 29 years and run for the Georgia State House of Representatives. I am a huge proponent of community policing and believe the same philosophy I used to build relationships between communities and law enforcement within the state should be used by government officials to build trust within the communities they serve. The terms “community policing” and “community engagement” are synonymous. Along with sound, quality customer service, they should be the standard by which all public servants are measured. With that, I am excited to formally announce my candidacy for Georgia State House District 68.

What Georgians really want and need right now is competent and thoughtful leadership by someone who is solutions-oriented. Georgians want unity over division, proactive and data-based decision makers over the reactionary politics of the moment, and leaders with the courage to speak truth. As Americans, we must come together now more than ever to ensure the success of our families, schools, and businesses. I am writing today to ask for your prayers and support as my family and I prepare for our next phase of community service in representing you in the Georgia State House.
